If you...Yes, it does have to be acrylics for that! If you need to buy, purchase the fluid acrylics as they would be easier to get to the watercolor type stage. I also found it easy to just lay the canvas on the grass and have a go...the paint may seep through the canvas and stain the patio furniture. There are some lovely things you can do with it, since you could scrunch it up for textures and things like that. If you have some boards, you might be able to lay it across those on the furniture to protect it, though!

I think the raw canvas is the greatest way to achieve the watery effects....I can't wait to see how it goes for you! It's a shame because I love oil but I don't think it will matter the way I'm using the paint. I'm going to really water it down because I want to achieve an effect similar to a watercolour painting. I've bought 5 metres and will keep trying until I've done something I like and then stretch that up. I'm hoping that I'll be allowed to use the patio furniture!!fiona longhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15894040931779859354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5241393111022392313.post-49165318442246083972008-07-09T08:34:00.000-04:002008-07-09T08:34:00.000-04:00Fiona, have some great fun in the New Forest...I k...Fiona, have some great fun in the New Forest...I know you will. How much fun will that be to be painting and be in the Forest?

I can't wait to see those brick wall paintings...they are incredible.

I love painting on raw canvas. For me, it is all about getting the paint to the right viscosity. I am assuming you are using acrylics. I have also found it is best to work outside. Are you painting on stretched or un-stretched canvas? I would love, love, love to hear about your painting experience with the raw canvas as well as the brick walls.

Thanks Fiona...and have great fun in the Forest...and in Wimbledon, too.Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15337904921232330088noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5241393111022392313.post-57378398094762179142008-07-09T08:26:00.000-04:002008-07-09T08:26:00.000-04:00(heart)Thank you, Jess!(heart)

Thank you, Jess!Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15337904921232330088noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5241393111022392313.post-19976855730972123172008-07-09T08:14:00.000-04:002008-07-09T08:14:00.000-04:00Hi Kim,I'm in Wimbledon right now but on Monday I'...Hi Kim,

I'm in Wimbledon right now but on Monday I'm going down to the New Forest for a week to get some brick wall paintings done where I have space to splosh around!

I'm also going to be experimenting with painting straight onto raw canvas. That's a lot of work into this and it pays off. Very good. Interesting how we all inspire each other. Thats why I love blogging with other artists of all mediums. It all inspires. Lynn is all inspired over something I gave her and I am inspired by something she gave me. You were inspired by Andrea. Theres another Artist in CA who is doing fantastic paintings in her own style that I think everyone should check out if they haven't already. I am inpsired by here too. http://fififlowersdecor.blogspot.com/
You should see about interviewing her.
