Thinking through the weekend!

This is a 10 x 10 Acrylic on deep gallery wrapped canvas. I have not made any decisions about what to call it or even if it is completed. At this point, I am contemplating, so it will probably go in that series! Of course, if you have any thoughts about this work, don't hesitate to send me a comment. I would love to hear from you.

Now, on to today. I would like to maintain the focus throughout this weekend on yesterday's topic. I am only interested in staying on this subject through this weekend then want to move forward with other thoughts. Todd Camplin (http://www.camplinart.blogspot.com/) posted a nice, detailed response to yesterday's post on his blog. I am inline with his thinking and appreciate him taking this on there, as well. Hopefully there will be some additional comments here, too. Yesterday Andrea (http://cestandrea.blogspot.com/) and Julianne (http://www.colorspeaker.com/) posted some good comments, of which I also agree. Please read over those and visit each of these blog sites. After reading these responses, please let me know your thoughts, concerns, etc. about this subject. On Monday, there will be a totally different subject on this blog and I will move forward with other thinking.

Until then, have a very lovely weekend!

Hello Kim,

I thought about your Art Group...
I like the idea and I would like to participate the best way I can....
There is one thing you should know though; I am not a big talker as you may have noticed.
My way of expressing myself is mostly through my art.
If that is a problem let me know, I would understand if I don't fit the profile.

Nice painting. I like the way my eye travels from one color to the other.

Thanks Danielle! We are not all big talkers, but the world needs people who do more than talk. I don't think we are limiting talkers and non-talkers in any way. I think the main this is people who are serious about their art! I think you fit that perfectly!

Thank you for your kind words about the painting. I can really get dark with these things, but it has nothing to do with darkness in my life...at least I don't think so!

Thanks again, Danielle!

Thanks Angela! Your comments are very apprecaited. I kind of get into texture, so you might see a bit of that here...along with color!

I hope to have some more to show you next week!

Thanks again!

Hi Kim, I read what everybody had to say about this and everything is very interesting.

to answer your questions

1+2)I really would like to participate in a "loosely" structured artists group, open to every artist who creates (I agree with Todd Camplin who says on his blog that there are many artists who call themselves artists without creating anything:)

My expectations would be to find inspiration, to find answers to practical/organizational and also technical questions. To be able to discuss these with other artists. And to share doubts and enthousiasm.

I have to say that here in Paris there aren't really art-communities anymore and many artists from other countries, who come here, deplore this. I have not many contacts to other artists in the "real" life as there is simply no time to meet other than on vernissages, and they are often very mondaine and not everybodies "thing" (I'm not a great talker neither;). We need time to create and time to make money if our art doesn't pay the bills, so time is measured.

I guess Internet is a good alternative to meet as an artgroup (have to find a nice name for it?)

Greetings from Paris
Andrea

Hi Andrea,

Thank you so much for revisiting this issue here. I am glad you also read Todd's posting as well. And I do agree there are those who call themselves artist who are not serious about their work.

I am also with you on making this a practical experience. We can talk all we want to, but unless we DO it is really meaningless.

I know time is a real issue with most of us. That is also true for me. However, if we can share and talk about issues and concerns in a safe place, then quite possibly we can move through some of these issues faster. At least maybe we can give this a shake and see how it all turns out.

I, too, have thought we need to think of a much better name! :)

I will be back in touch tomorrow or Monday via email.

Thanks Again, Andrea!

Following all the comments,,,,taking it all in,,,absorbing,,,,I'm not much of an 'organizer' kind of person,,,but would love to be involved,,,,to whatever extent I am able.
I feel we all have a lot to offer one another, in all the areas that have been mentioned, though maybe not everyone in every area.
So,,,,,,,for whatever I may be able to contribute, I'm here.

Hi Babs! Excellent! I am glad you are following all of this and want to participate. I have saved these comments and will be contacting those who have shown interest via email tomorrow afternoon or Monday morning (US east coast time for those located elsewhere).

I agree with you we all have a lot to offer each other. I feel as though we can gain so much from an interaction like this and look forward to the possibilities. Believe me we will all bring different strengths to this.

I am sure you will have a great deal to contribute...you always do!

Thanks Babs!

I think the most important aspect of an art group is the exchange of ideas, the discussion of aesthetics, why we are doing what we are doing, our notions of art and beauty, etc. The point is to stimulate each other, to get everyone thinking and producing and arguing in a productive way.

Troy! I totally agree with you! I will be sending this to the others!

Thanks for keeping this in the front here.

Hi Kim,
I've just been looking again at your lovely paintings on your web-site. I particularly like the contemplation series. Bring on the Music Series - I can't wait!
