Fool the Nay-Sayers

Do you ever find there are those who are very fast to judge you? Do you allow them to influence you? Depending on my mood, I can let those people get to me or I can let them know it is their loss. We cannot always meet the needs of others, and as creative people it becomes important to stay true to ourselves in order to achieve our best work. I keep trying to remind myself how important it is to keep my focus and believe all happens when the time is right. I work hard to stay positive about all aspects of my life. How about you? Are you naturally a positive person who believes all happens as it should when the time is right? Do you think there may come a time when your life might make a sharp turn into your dreams? Do you believe?

Here is a story you are not going to want to miss. Please see what happened to 47 year old Susan Boyle from Scotland when she appeared on Britain's Got Talent television show. (My apologies for making this a link, however I have no idea how to deal with a video.) Please watch this, if you have not seen it already. Catch the smug reactions to people when she walks out on the stage.

Have you watched it? Yes? Do you now feel the world is right and good? I can't tell you how this uplifted me. I feel as though I can conquer the world single-handed. Of course the moral of the story is be careful how you treat people you come across each day...being kind never hurt a soul.

Have a Beautiful and Kind Day!

I did see it and it made me cry.
So beatuiful...such a swan story.
Thanks for sharing it with others.

Hello Lynn,

I cried, too. This story is amazing to be sure. Since posting I have read where she stopped singing when her mother died two years ago, but because this TV show was her mother's favorite, she thought she would give it a try. I think it is fair to say the world is glad she took that chance!

I am so very happy for this woman's success! I am happy for everyone's success!

Thanks Lynn!

Kim

I was knocked out by her voice! It was amazing. We happened to be watching the programme intensely on saturday evening because my son is on this series. No, he's not a singer, he plays tunes with his hands!
Kim, I've put a very short film on my blog you might like to see. It's a well known UK artist talking about her painting process and I found it really intersting, in fact it made me want to go back to doing some canvas painting again!x

Hi Jess,

Jess, your son is on this show? Really? Can we see him on youtube or the show site? I really want to see him work HIS magic.

I can't tell you what I have been feeling today after finding this clip on CNN this morning. you know I have a soft spot in my heart for your country, anyway :)

Oh, I am heading right over to your blog now, Jess! Canvas painting by you again...I would love to see that happen. You know I love your abstract work. Okay...here I come. Thanks for the heads up!

Love,

Kim

I am speechless! What an awesome video! It's so horrible people still can judge someone by simple appearance. I thought she was funny and genuine...and then that voice! Wow!

I don't know if you recall another contestant a few years back who also came on stage and had to put up with Simon's and the public's irony, and then voila! the man sang opera like the gods!

This is truly encouraging for everyone who has a dream (no pun intended! LOL!)

Hello Heidi!

Isn't it amazing. I just feel so good watching it. You know this woman can do amazing things for people in how she is just a regular kind of person, not trying to be anyone she is not...and just doing her thing the best she can. Think of what that says to young people? I read earlier today a comment someone made on a posting somewhere (my apologies for not remembering it may have been on CNN)...she said something like she would like to see a movie of Susan Boyle's life however Hollywood is only full of pretty faces and not so much full of talent! :) You are right, she is funny and genuine and how much better can you be than that?

You are right that man was Paul Potts who was a mobile phone salesman from Wales. He is just about ready to release his second album and has an amazing following. Cool, isn't it? You would think that Simon guy would have learned, uh? (Can you tell I know very little about TV?)

It is so important to not let go of the dreams!

Thanks so much, Heidi! I am glad to hear your response!

Love,

Kim

YES! I've seen this several times, not on tv, as I watch very little. I received this in emails today, and they've been the most inspiring emails I've had in forever.
Interesting,,,the different kinds of beauty God creates. Hers will last far beyond the physical appearance of her critics. Inner beauty,,,enough to last a lifetime.
I remember Paul Potts too.Who could forget either?

Hi Kim,
We havn't been told anything by the production company other than he'll be on in May, so we just have to sit and watch it all just in case! I think it's because there were so many contestants and the editing can change things so much he might be cut down to almost nothing! You can be sure if I find any footage I'll be showing it off! ;)

Andrea and Kim said...

You are right, Babs, she is truly an inspiration! I love her bouncy and whatever attitude!

All of life is beautiful at it's core, it is just when it is brought to the surface like this it touches others.

Thanks Babs!

Kim

Oh Jess, you must be so excited. You have quite a creative family there! Wow! I know all of you are sitting on pins and needles. One just never seems to know what production will edit or the thought process behind it (okay, we know the thought process boils down to money).

I will be watching closely for any news or video.

Thanks Jess!

Kim

kim, this is glorious. it is funny but I received this link in an email from a friend this morning, but I didnt watch it. I watched this one though and as with others was in tears throughout.

i vary in my thoughts. i can get down and think grim thoughts. i can be up and think positive thoughts. they flow through me, they come and then go. the best i can do is to know that my thoughts are transitory whether grim or happy. and keep on taking the next step and the next.

Hello Sweet Suki,

I am so glad you watched this and it did touch you. Things like this stay with me for quite a while (some books can be the same way), so I have to keep working with them to understand all I am supposed to learn. In the meantime, I am glad it has brought some good to others, too.

Taking the next step is always important. When we begin to tread water or paddle backwards is when we can get into trouble. Believe me, in my family, this business of staying positive really gets to people who have to live with me...sometimes people just need me to get down in the mud and wallow around with them and I find that difficult. Maybe it happens for me that way, because I know if I allow that to be I will stay in the mud too long. :) So I think your method is a good one...just know the thoughts will pass and you keep moving forward.

Thanks Suki!

Kim

This was an amazing Video. I was rather bugged by the people only looking at the package before hearing what was inside. She sure taught us all a lesson. I saw her on GMA this morning.
Thanks for Anniversary wishes yesterday. And Happy A to you ahead for next week when it is your Anniversary. 25 years is a coo too. :))

Andrea and Kim said...

Hi Cris, it really is amazing. Well, I think some of that business with the judges was kind of planned, but the audience was really annoying. People sure can't get enough of her, and I understand why, too. She is a breath of fresh air!

I hope you and Con had a lovely anniversary...

Take Care,

Love,

Kim

Omigosh Kim, I also wanted to cry when I watched this. I think she is a thousand times better than the fakey plastic surgery enhanced processed singers that we see all over the news today! Go Susan!

Hi Kim, I just watched the video of this "femme courageuse", I loved her whimsical little face when she appeared and her natural self confidence, and she sounded very funny (as usual, I had trouble to understand the scottish accent:), Those cynical people everywhere looking at her and laughing....I really hope that they'll remember the lesson!!!

Kim, I was already familiar with the Susan Boyle incident. Not only is she extremely talented, she looks like the rest of us and doesn't seem to have had a real break in life. Until now. Yes, that IS uplifting.

Thanks Marianne,

I am slow getting around here lately...it seems there is so much happening I am needing to take care of around here. I suppose that is the way it is, though.

I am still finding myself inspired by this amazing story.

Have a Beautiful Week!

Hello Sweet Lynette!

You know I just those aspects, too. I have seen a few newsey things lately about her change of clothing and I think it is great she is moving forward for herself, too. I would love to just give her a hug, you know?

Thanks Lynette!

Hello Andrea!

A true lesson this sure has been. I hope we can all learn from it to be sure.

Like you, I have found her face so precious as there is such an honesty about it.

The Scottish are probably really the only ones who can fully understand that accent :). I know it took me a while to get used to it...and now I still have to stop and listen very closely.

I also love her sense of humor! That means a lot!

Thanks Andrea!

Great Story to be sure!

Oh Paula,

You are so very right...the student has to be ready to absorb it before the teacher is effective. I guess I was ready for being the sponge! :)

Thank you so much for your kind words. I hope I am kind...I really am not very patient with the impatient or unkind. Your beautiful words have made my day!

Yes, I can see that upbeat, positive person in your beautiful words...here and on your blogs, too!

Hugs, Sweet Paula!

Kim
