It Is True!

Have you been to Andrea's blog today? She is sharing some amazing accomplishments achieved with her art over the last month or so. She is so deserving of kudos, so please pop over there and leave her yours, if you have not already.

One of the things she talks about is having one of her Metroheads (people she sketches as she travels to her safetyjob each day) published in the literary magazine The Truth About The Fact. The Metrohead was a perfect fit as the magazine was focusing on the urban environment. It was also perfect because Andrea is such a wonderful artist and really captures the spirit of those people riding the Paris Metro beside her each day.

Since she brought it up, I will also acknowledge she is correct in saying I also had a photograph accepted for publication in the same magazine. I am really excited to have this happen for me and excited to be sharing in the same magazine as Andrea. The magazine has two launch parties. One was in Los Angeles in April on the campus of Loyola Marymount University. The other party is in Manhattan next week at the publisher's offices. Now here is another Truth About A Fact, I am going to be meeting Andrea, face-to-face, along with her very kind husband next week in New York City. Isn't that exciting?
This is my photograph which was accepted for publication - A Peek at Prague. This was taken from the castle on the hill above Prague, CZ looking through one of those arrow slits where soldiers would defend the castle by shooting arrows at the enemy through one of these slits in the castle wall. Now in modern times, I used it to capture a glimpse of the city and get the photo published in a magazine. Not too bad for a slit in a stone wall, uh? All photos and images of artwork had to be in black and white for the publication, so I am showing it to you as it was sent for publication. We will be picking up our copies of the magazine next week, so I will share more later.

While I do not have as many art successes to share with you, I can assure you I have been keeping busy with lots of work and lots of prep time for hopeful, future successes.

Everyone have a beautiful and lovely day!

Oh how exciting that you two will be meeting face to face and that you both are featured in the same magazine with your Art. Had it not been for Your blogs you wouldnt be doing this soon. Amazing this blog world. What is the name of the magazine you are going to be in? Will it be everywhere?
Hugs to you both for your successes.

OMG, I am so JEALOUS !!!! Oh, what I would do to have a meet up with you and Andrea !!!!!! OMG ! (I think I already said that.......OMG!)

That photo is really cool. Oh, I had no idea you were such a photographer.....I focus so much on your painting.

Thanks for the sweet comments at my blog.....you really are too kind. Most of the time my hair looks like crop circles and there is paint on everything. I needed a photo for the museum folks to put up on their site......

Kisses and hugs, and happy Spring !

You are right, Cris...it clearly has been this blog world which has made all of this happen. I have come fact to face with one other person whom I met on the internet. The first time I met her she came to stay with our family with her family (including small child) for 2 weeks! LOL

I have never met anyone who is a blog friend face to face before, though...and I get to do it in this very special way, too. I am really excited.

You know, I will have to let you know where you can get this magazine. In all of the excitement that is one question I have failed to ask. I will try to come back with the answer very soon! Okay?

Thanks So Much, Cris!

Love,

Kim

Hello Sweet Paula! You are so funny...I may have to steal your line about hair looking like crop circles...that describes me perfectly! I love that photo so much...what museum?

I have to tell you I am really very excited about being able to do this...so I know just what you mean about feeling that way! Well, one day we will just have to meet up ... I am partial to your town, but maybe you want to get away. :)

Mmmm, I adore photography, but it is a selfish pleasure, I am afraid. I have two very visual children who are really much better than I when it comes to the use of the camera. On the flip side of that...my husband will not touch one. He can't imagine a photograph without a person in it! LOL He is very supportive, however, and has gifted me with some amazing equipment...which the children love :)!

Thanks Sweet Paula...and I will share the NY story later.

Love,

Kim

Awe, thank you, Babs! That is very kind and I am so honored to have your insights here. I have a lot of respect for your critical eye. :)

I am very excited for Andrea, too. Not only is this a big trip for her, but this is her first time in NYC. I have been several times for various reasons...usually work...but for her this is a first. She is used to Paris, but NY is well...kind of like Paris...a world unto itself! :) I am very excited to be meeting her and her husband there. Not only do Andrea and I share the same birthday we also have husbands with the same profession!!! Small world, isn't it?

I will post here to let you know how you can get one of these magazines...full of wonderful short stories, poetry and art.

Thanks So Much Sweet Babs! Life is Good!

Love,

Kim

Awe, it seems so many of you are jealous and I have to say I am honored to be meeting Andrea and her husband. It will be so lovely to meet them face to face (although I have never actually spoken with her husband). I can understand how people might be jealous. I promise not to take up all of her time and also promise to have a toast to all our bloggy friends...

Thank You Sweet Suki!

Love,

Kim

Omg how cool! Congrats! it is an intriguing photo! and how exciting to be going to New York and meeting Andrea from Paris!!! the net is a wonderful thing for us artists for making contact out of the studio-- and to think maybe someday we can meet in person some of our online art buddies! Who'd have thought it!

Hi Kim, I meant to say in my last post to you, well done at having a photo accepted for publication! I'd read it on Andrea's blog. It'll be lovely for you to meet in real life! :)

you lucky girl....have a nice day too.

Thank you, Elis! It is very exciting to be able catch up with Andrea. I keep telling my husband I will take another assignment in Europe without an issue...thinking I would be able to meet some blog friends if we were able to get back there. Now, this has happened and I get to meet Andrea here in No America! It is very exciting to be sure.

I have to say I completely agree it is so much fun to have friends from around the world and to think we will be able to possibly catch up with them one day. When I was a child I used to put together a puzzle of the US and on the back was a world puzzle. I would wonder what people were like in different places...now we get to hear all about it with ease. Who would have thought that would happen?

Thanks Again, Elis!

Kim

Congratulations! This is one wonderful photo...I love this narrow narrow view! Have fun in New York!

Andrea and Kim said...

Thanks so much Mary Ann! It is interesting how this view turned out...you don't really get to see the big sites of Prague...like the Chas. Bridge or the TV tower with the babies crawling up the side...but just the glimpse!

I will TRY REALLY HARD :) to have fun!
