Weekend Ponderings

I just had to share this with you. Yesterday Andrea sent me this photo of the Metro Stations I spoke about in the comment area of the Signs Post. While this is not a sign as we normally think of signs, it clearly indicates this is the way to the Metro trains. Isn't it fantastic? I have to tell you I would love it if Washington Metro Station Signs were as artistic as this.

Also yesterday, my son and I began talking about the Myers-Briggs Personality Test, and how he and I tested. We did this test years ago, but sometimes go back to it and re-evaluate. Have you ever taken the test? If not, you can go to this site and take one which is brief, but comes out the same as the longer tests (at least for those of us in this family).

I am an INFP, which means I am Introverted/Intuitive/Feeling/Perceiving. There are links to full explanations of each of these personality types online. I know really odd little details about my personality type. For instance, for all of these indicators I am more than 90% them...like I am 95% feeling...that basically means I am not someone who thinks my way out of things by any stretch of the imagination. I also know INFP's are the rarest personality type. So these two bits of information tells you I am one unusual personality as personalities go. :) But I do not mind.

But I am interested in knowing if you know or are willing to share your Myers-Briggs type? I think it would be interesting to know how we are the same and how we are different as artists or people who love art. Are you willing? Are you interested? Either way, I would love to hear from you.

Have a Great Weekend!

KIm, love the metro sign. I can see us both walking up the steps together into the Paris streets to meet Andrea.

I believe i am also INFP. I worked with a friend who was also a coach who gave me this test. Somewhere I have the written out results. I remember she said it was a rare type. I'll take the quicky to check it out.

Have fun on the WE. Blessings, Suki

Okay I did the test and came out INFP

Andrea and Kim said...

Suki, I am not surprised at all you are an INFP. And I don't know if you noticed or not, but writer was one of the positive careers for an INFP...so there you go! :)

And, absolutely...I am with you walking up those stairs to meet Andrea! Wouldn't that be so much fun? I love Paris so much...it is one place I love to people watch because those personalities just overflow there. When are we leaving? :)

Thanks Sweet Suki...my personality sister!

Hi Kim and Suki :) so you are INFP's both:):) makes me curisous and I'll go and do this this test:)

Kim, by mirroring this picture back to me, I am thinking how lucky I am to live in this city, thanks for reminding me this very important detail in my life:)
One tends to forget, what one has!

Hi Andrea,

I am very interested in hearing what type you are. I think this could be interesting to be sure.

Yes, Andrea, it is a lovely city to live. You know my experience there is just as a tourist. I know you have insights as a resident, but I do love your city. The art there (also in London, Berlin and Prague) is truly incredible and being able to see so much public art is truly amazing.

Thanks Andrea...I can't wait to hear how your personality type comes out.

Hugs!

Oups, I did that test and am an INFJ Introverted/ Intuitive/ Feeling / Judging
I don't quite like the judging:) part of it, but when I tried to get to the page where they explain the types, it wouldn't open.

I'll try again

Unknown said...

Kim I just read that the "judging" refers to "have matters settled" which makes me laugh! I guess this is quite right and interesting, although when it comes to certain tasks which I do not like, I'm running away from the matter to be settled...LOL

That is the most gaudy piece of art I've ever seen and I LOVE IT.
What a fun entrance to the Metro in Paris! Fantastic! Amazing. Such fun to have ART in the city like that. I wonder how much more of it there is by that and other artists.

Will get back to you on the Meyer Briggs. I know I did it in college, but don't recall my score.
I hate tests like this. But I'll do it.

Andrea and Kim said...

Hi Andrea...this is not to be a negative! I think judging means that you are more decisive with things. Yes, I see now you found it means needing to have things settled. I think this can be good because one of the things I do with my art is love to begin a project then I like to work on it, work on it and work on it. For me, it is as though things can always be done to make a project better. Although I do minimal art sometimes, I spend a ton of time trying to come up with why I do it, what it means to me, why it is important, how I might write about it, how to explain it and it goes on and on and on. And when I do an interior design project, I find my greatest joy is finding lots of solutions and never really having a strong opinion on any of them as long as the design is strong.

So you can see, being judging doesn't always mean something negative. :)

I think it is very cool, though that you are also an INF just like Suki and like me. We knew you would come out introverted, because that you know clearly. I had a good idea you were very intuitive and was quite certain you were very, very feeing (that sensitive side)...but I wasn't sure about the perceiving and judging part because you are so good with getting projects completed.

Hey, thanks for doing this, Andrea! I think it is a lot of fun and just a different way to see (and maybe explain) ourselves!

Hugs!

Hi Lynn,

I found there is a lot of public art in Europe, in general. Paris is not an exception at all. Andrea can answer your question a lot easier than I.

Now I don't want to ask you to do something you are not comfortable doing. Really, this should be fun and if it is not for you please do not feel as though you should.

Thanks Lynn for your wonderful comments here and on my other blog, too.

Lynn Cohen said...

I took the test and I am INFJ. Just like Andrea! How cool is that!
LOL My intuitive/Sensing numbers are close 59% vs 41%. The other number are highter on the decicive side. Hey, I think I just got over my fear of these tests!!!!

This is so fun to read. Thanks Kim. The reason I can read it today is I did NOT drive in the pouring rain for 3 hours. Flooding warnings were up for the area so I changed apt to Wed though I hate to do that with self-employed persons as i know it is hard for them to loose an apt.

Meanwhile, my specific percentages were: I 75% N73% F 95% and P 82%

Andrea and Kim said...

Hey Lynn, I am glad you have had a better experience of these tests! Whew!

And this is really cool to see these types play out among art bloggers! Don't you think blogging plays to our introverted side?

I am excited about this and hope to be able to talk more about it after we can take a look at the similarities and differences.

Thanks Lynn! This is so great!

Andrea and Kim said...

Oh Suki, I am so pleased you made that decision not to drive down today. It is really rainy and somewhat breezy here today, too. I bet there are going to be better days for you to do this. And hey! I get the benefit... :) You are such a Love!

Okay, so here are my INFP percentages:

Introverted (I) 93%
Intuitive (N) 91%
Feeling (F) 95%
Perceiving (P) 91%

So both of us are very strong INFP's!

I am glad you are enjoying this...so am I!

Hi Kim and Suki and Lynn, this is fun to read:) and you are so right, Kim: just a different way to see ourselves. And yes, blogger plays to our introverted side.
So glad your guys are out there:)

Hi Kim,

Thanks for this wonderful picture of the PAris subways!
Incredible cool! I love subways all over the world they have something special.
I will have a look at the test (see if it is not to difficult for me to understand and struggle through)

Hug >M<

Andrea and Kim said...

Isn't it beautiful? Really it is from Andrea!

Subways are really interesting...although some are really yucky...have you ever experienced the NYC subway? in the summer? ARGH! :) (sorry anyone in NYC) I also thought Prague's subway was a little uncomfortable for some reason.

The test is quite simple and not that long, but don't stress out about it as it is not for that. You also might be able to find a version in Dutch. I don't know.

Thanks Marianne!

I did the test: ISFJ.
Surprised about the Introverted 61%part, always thought myself extraverted......
Sensing 50% Intuitive 50%
Feeling 90% Thinking 10 % (my husband had to laugh about this!)
Judging 59% (I don't like this but ok it is what it is at this moment I guess)
btw you have extreem scores :) (no judging here!)
The links after the results are fun as well.
I did the test together with my husband.
Thanks for this fun post and test!

PS Yes I have been in NY's subway and I liked it ..........;(
Last time I was in Bejing I took the subway because we couldn't get a taxi (because of the Olympics) I thought it was a wonderful experience.
never have thought about it this way, but my conclusion is I love taking the subway in other countries!

Have a nice weeknd Kim!

Andrea and Kim said...

Hi Marianne,

So you are really I, S/N, F, J! So this is very close to Andrea and Lynn! I have to agree with you that the links after the scores are very interesting. It was cool you and your husband did this together.

My scores are extreme and my family will be happy to tell you all about that! :) In some cases it is really helpful... and sometimes it irritates them absolutely to no end! :)

Well my hat is off to you, Marianne. You are just a subwayhead. Hey, maybe one day Andrea will draw you as a Metrohead!

Thanks Marianne!

WOW.. THIS IS ONE COOL ENTRYWAY.
How fab that Andrea took the pix for you.
I will have to go take that test..

Andrea and Kim said...

Thanks Cris!

That Andrea is really special, isn't she?

Let us know what you learn, Cris!

I hope you are all ready for your company!

Wow, all subways should look like that. It is really pretty.

I took that test a while ago and can't remember how I turned out...guess I should do it again!

Andrea and Kim said...

I have to say I agree with you, Sioux! Isn't it lovely?

Thanks so much for visiting and leaving a comment! I look forward to visiting your blog, too!

Oh yes, do take the Myers Briggs again...it has been lots of fun to explore some different ways of explaining myself. If you do take it, let us know how it comes out.

Thanks Again, Sioux, and please visit and leave a comment again.

I agree with Lynn,,this is a gorgeously gaudy piece of street art,,,would love to see something like that here, even though we have no subways.
:-)

I'll be back after I've taken the test,,,very intriguing!

Andrea and Kim said...

Hi Babs!

How was your trip? I bet you had a blast!

I love this Metro station so much...it is, quite simply, a riot! And why should they not be so? It also always looks just this sparkly...someone must do a lot of cleaning...but hey, the shop keepers scrub the streets in front of their shops...with water hoses (hose pipes) and brooms.

Okay, Babs! I can't wait to see what the test tells you. I have some ideas but will wait to see.

Glad you are back!

~Babs said...

Well,,I have to study these results some more, HAHA,,,,I am an ISTJ,,,,I suppose it IS me,,,,I can see a lot of it!
Great perseverence,,,yes, My Mom always called it 'stubborn-ness'!

Thanks Kim,,,,good to be back,,,if only for a couple of days! Missed all of you!

Andrea and Kim said...

You know part of Myers Briggs is also learning to read other people. I first learned about it because my corporate friends were having to take classes in this in order to learn how to work with others more effectively. So over the years, I have also learned to read people after getting to know them a little. I pretty much guessed you might be an I or E (that one I wasn't sure about) STJ person, Babs! And the stubborn part...well, I think my family will tell you there is not anyone quite as stubborn as moi! LOL Oh, how I make their head spin, too :)

It is fun, though, isn't it! Thanks for doing this...

So you are off again? Girl, you do not stay still!

Take Care!

Hi Kim
a bit late but..How intriquing this test is... I too am this INFP
Introverted (I) 93% Extraverted (E) 7%
Intuitive (N) 82% Sensing (S) 18%
Feeling (F) 65% Thinking (T) 35%
Perceiving (P) 91% Judging (J) 9%

thanks so much for the links... I love things that help us understand ourselves and others better! namaste Elis.

Andrea and Kim said...

Elis! You are an INFP as well! It looks like the two of us are very close, too. It is wonderful to gain insights in this way. If for no other reason than to give one a base for understanding and talking.

Thanks Elis.
