The Look of Taste

So, okay...I tried to reproduce what a taste looks like today. I am no where near as successful as Babs, but I gave it a quick shake!

This is berries and cream...specifically, raspberries and blueberries and whipped cream! The taste is fresh, complex, sweet and the berries have huge bursts of individual flavor and sometimes it is all blended together.
This is coffee with cream. Do you think I like cream...I really struggle with a milk allergy, so I don't get much of that...but enjoy it when I take the allergy hit. So coffee tastes very earthy, creamy and there is a lot of intensity at some points and thin-ness at others. The cream works with it to take it deep. I love my coffee strong and rich! :)

So there you have it. I tried the Babs trick. Well, it is my personal interpretation of the Babs trick! That woman has some tricks up her sleeve, don't you agree?

So here is to a great weekend for you all! I wish for you all a beautiful weekend outdoors or in the studio...better yet, both!

Yes, berries and cream. I see that. The second one made me think of a big twist of chocolate taffy. Good job!

Kim this is wonderfully successful! I love berries of all kinds,,,,and woven ones are my favorite!
Also that rich, creamy dark chocolate,,,,I heard that it's actually good for you,,,,so I eat LOTS!

What a lovely idea to portray 'taste'! I quite often get reminded of particular foods when out and about. I only have to see a particular shade of purple and I'm craving Cadbury's chocolate.(The colour of their wrapper). Your paintings are are spot on. I can smell that coffee already!

Thanks so much Angela!

I like coffee a lot, but I also love tea...both hot in the winter and cold in the summer.

Hi Kate!

Oh yes, I can clearly see the chocolate, too. I don't like milk chocolate at all, though. My children found a 99% cacao bar and gave it to me one Christmas...I loved it!

Thanks, Kate!

Hi Babs, you are so encouraging in every way! Thank you! These clearly do not touch your piece which started all of this, but I also know you spent a great deal more time on your painting.

I am glad you like the weavings...this one is small. The backing board is a 5 x 7.

Coffee/Chocolate...I had a good idea some people would see chocolate in this one.

I also drink my coffee black and eat my chocolate as dark as I can find! :)

Thanks, Babs!

Hi Jess, the post just before this one will tell you just how this came about with a painting Babs had done.

Ohh yes! Cadbury's chocolate! Yummy! Those are really great wrappers, too.

Thanks so much, Jess! It means a lot to me for you to think I have these spot on.

Hey Kim, these are fun portrayals of taste. The berries and cream looks delicious. MMM. And i would have said chocolate too. I eat chocolate while I read and often get blurs of it on the page that look a lot like your coffee. I hope you have a great weekend too. Be well, Suki

Hi Kim,

They were also fun to do, Suki!

Oh, I love the idea of chocolate smears on the page of your books! What an honor to hear those smears look kind of like these tastes!

Thanks So Much, Suki!

Hi Kim
I did see the blueberries and cream of the 1st one [but not the raspberries until I read your post]... the 2nd one made me think 'hot fudge' lol! but then I am a chocoholic... namaste Elis.

Andrea and Kim said...

Hi Elis...

I am glad the blueberries and cream came though!

Hot fudge...now a lot of people have thought of that as chocolate! That is very cool with me.

Thanks Elis!

I can almost taste that coffee !!!! Yum.

Yes, super dark rich coffee and lots of good cream......now that is living large !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andrea and Kim said...

Yeah, Paula! Good and Thanks!

I have to say I agree with you. I love coffee just about anything. I always mix a bit of coffee with just about anything I make chocolate. Have you ever noticed how a little coffee pumps up the chocolate?

Thanks Again, Paula!

Kim, both of these look delicious with yummy use of colors and texture!! Goin' to check out Babs blog now, I'm so far behind this week.

Andrea and Kim said...

Hey Lynette!

I am glad you like them. I think Babs has the corner on this one, though. She really nailed that orange for me! I think this was just down right fun to try, though.

I know what those weeks look like...

Thanks for spending a bit of time here...it is a honor.

What a neat experiement Kim. I totally could see the berries and cream in your first one. I could almost taste it looking at it :)

Andrea and Kim said...

Thank You, Honor! It is the time of year when you can actually have some berries and cream...well, maybe a tad early depending on where you are. A bit early here, but soon! :)

Thanks so much for visiting me and leaving a comment. I appreciate it.

OMG, Kim, you are making me taste the delectable berry dessert I ate yesterday evening. Yes, lots of whipped cream.

And thank goodness I am already sipping on a decaf French roast, yes, with cream, for your big delicious swirl would certainly send me running to the coffee mill otherwise.

That Babs IS quite the trickster. You too.

Andrea and Kim said...

Thanks San! I am glad you enjoyed these! :) It is really fun to do, I have to say that!

Awe! Thanks San! Me a trickster? What an honor.

Babs a trickster? You know it girl!

Thanks so much, San, your comments here are so very appreciated!

Think I'll attach a giant all day sucker onto one of my spiral paintings. hmm? "All Day Sucker" would be a fantastic name for a painting... it has double meaning.

Chewy,

You should and it sure does!
